There was sadness and anger Saturday morning following news that Kabete MP George Muchai had been shot dead at dawn on Nairobi’s Kenyatta Avenue-Uhuru Highway roundabout.
Two of the MP’s police bodyguards and a driver also died in the incident, Nairobi Central Police OCPD Paul Wanjama confirmed.
He said the incident occurred between 3am and 4:30am as the MP stopped to buy a newspaper when unknown masked assailants intercepted his car and sprayed it with bullets.
Eye witnesses said only four bullets were fired taking out the four victims, touching off speculation that the attackers were skilled.
CONCEALED NUMBER PLATES
The attackers, who are said to have trailed the MP from Westlands in a Toyota Probox with concealed number plates, took off with a briefcase and two pistols belonging to the bodyguards.
Muchai was in the company of his wife and daughter who were being driven in a different car ahead.
St John’s Ambulance, who were among the first respondents to arrive at the scene, said in a statement that they found the four people already dead.
St John’s Ambulance indicated that the assailants were in a Toyota Probox car with concealed registration numbers.
Hundreds of students have reportedly signed up to a "dating" website
that enables students to meet people willing to fund their degrees and
lifestyles whilst at university.
Nearly 2,000 women students in the UK are said to be registered on SeekingArrangement.com,
which promises to match "sugar babies" with "sugar daddies". Seeking
Arrangement boasts 3.6 million active members, with 2.6 million "sugar
babies" to 1 million "sugar daddies and mommas".
According to the website, over a third of their total users are students.
A
statement from Brandon Wade, founder of the service, reads: "Every
successful relationship is an arrangement between two parties.
"In
business, partners sign business agreements that outline their
objectives and expectations. Likewise, romantic relationships can only
work if two people agree on what they expect and receive from each
other."
The entrepreneur told student website The Tab: "Love is a concept made up by poor people.
"At
a time when graduates are guaranteed debt rather than a well-paying
job, or even employment for that matter, Sugar Daddies are sought out
for opportunity and not just financial stability."
He went on to
claim that "sugaring" would improve the prospects of men and women using
the service, perhaps even enabling them to find employment upon
graduation.
Recent statistics showed that the cost to the UK of paying for student
debt will rise to billions of pounds per year over the next three
decades.
University
fees are likely to feature strongly during the general election
campaign. In January, Labour leader Ed Miliband hinted that his party
would bring forward a package to reduce fees.
New figures have
also revealed that a third of graduates are failing to find
graduate-level employment five years after leaving university. The
number in lower-level jobs has increased by 4 per cent since 2010 and,
at 34 per cent, is at its highest in more than a decade.

KAMPALA - Uganda’s ethics minister Simon Lokodo says government has not given up on the pornography case against local musician Desire Luzinda and her Nigerian ex-lover.
Luzinda was last year interrogated by police over her nude pictures that
were posted on social media – reportedly by her former boyfriend,
Franklin Emoubor.
She was questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over
the matter, during which she denied being part of the crime.
Her nude pictures went viral on social media, igniting debate on issues like privacy and morality.
Minister Lokodo (pictured below) told New Vision that government is interested in the case and that they are doing all they can to have those involved brought to book.
“We are working with Interpol to see that Desire’s boyfriend Emoubor is
brought back to Uganda because we need to interrogate him over the
matter,” he said.
According to Lokodo, police are searching for him in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) and in his homeland Nigeria.
“According to Desire’s statement, the man could be hiding in the above
named countries. I asked Interpol to arrest him and bring him here,” he
stated.
Section 13 of the anti-pornography law states that a person shall not
produce, traffic in, publish, procure, import or promote pornography in
the country.
The law states that a convict of the crime will be fined a fee not
exceeding five hundred currency points or imprisonment not exceeding ten
years or both.
Relatedly, Lokodo said they are also investigating local TV presenter
Justine Nantume for allegedly producing and selling pornographic videos.
“As a ministry, we are doing our job and we shall do our level best to see that such crimes are reduced in the country.”
Last year police arrested and remanded local musician Jemimah Kansiime
and producer Didi Muchwa for producing a pornographic video, a violation
of the anti-pornography law.

A
30-year-old woman, Zhula, whose real name is Memory Mlambo and is a
resident of Zimta section of Mutare, Zimbabwe, claims to be enjoying
life of cohabiting with two men in the same room.
Zhula
whose boyfriends include Fungai Matandaudyi (35) and Wesley Gora (32)
said she was not satisfied with one but two men and she was not prepared
to lose any one of them.
"I love them equally but for
different reasons. One of them gives me very good sex. He satisfies me
in bed. He is just good," she said without revealing which one of the
two.
"The other one also loves me. He pays my rentals
and does everything else. I make sure that I don't offend any of them
and we are living happily. They get along well and that makes me feel
comfortable loving both of them. My problem is that I am not satisfied
with one man, so I feel great having both of them as my husbands. They
usually give each other time (for sex) and respect each other," she
said.
She said she was christened "Zhula" by musician
Alick Macheso at one of his shows at the now defunct Chapter One Leisure
Centre a few years ago.
She is a widow with two children.
Wesley said he was initially infuriated to learn that his girlfriend Zhula was seeing another man.
"I
later got over it and accepted that she loved both of us. We are now
living happily. We don't have any problem at all. He is my babamunini
and I like him," he said.
Fungai, the more reserved of the two, claimed that he started dating Zhula eight months ago.
"I
realised that she was in a relationship with Wesley, but I did not
mind. We sat down and talked about this and we all agreed to this
arrangement. I love her. We are comfortable with it," said Fungai.

story: UK: A woman has revealed the horrific reign of abuse she faced at
the hands of her own father. Helen, whose identity has been protected,
said she was regularly beaten and sexually abused by her father growing
up. When she was 14 she discovered she was pregnant with his child.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, Helen said her mother had left her and
her siblings very early on in the care of her father, where they lived
'like animals'. Her father, who she says often thought there were voices
coming from the radio, didn't believe in buying food and their diet
consisted solely of potatoes and bread. The brave mother lived in
constant fear of her father beating her with a belt, a poker or
branches. She also said he would encourage their brother to strangle or
beat them. "There was no carpet, no bedding - we were terrified," Helen
revealed before adding he made her and her sisters dress like old women
to hide the bruises. When Helen turned five the abuse took an even more
sinister turn and her father started to sexually abuse her. Helen says
all she felt was fear and wouldn't dare answer back to him. "I didn't
know any different - he was the boss," she told the hosts. She then fell
pregnant aged 14. Helen said she had no idea what was going on, she
just felt ill. Her dad's response? He yelled at her and told her she
should have taken precautions. "He said you couldn't possibly get
pregnant from your father and I believed that. It was such a lie. I
completely shut down when I found out." Following that, he started to
take her on trips away, which she later realised was an attempt to find
somewhere to get an abortion, but she was too far gone.
During
the pregnancy, social services attempted to make regular visits to the
home but her father would always stop them from coming in.
Eventually
a social worker along with two policemen and a doctor made it into the
house where she was told she was six or seven months pregnant.
"I went into complete shock then. Whatever little voice I had I shut down - I couldn't believe it."
Despite that, Helen says she was thrilled when she had her 'pride and joy' Sarah.
But the abuse still hadn't stopped. It was only when Helen found her father with the baby that the turning point came.
"The
nappy was open and he was rubbing his hands together and stumbling over
words and looked really guilty. I saw nothing, but something didn't
feel right. I just got out of there," she said.
Eventually police
were called and it went to trial, but her father was deemed unfit to
stand. He went to a psychiatric unit where he later died. Helen never
confronted him about what happened.
What effect has this had on her daughter, Phillip then asks.
"I
never intended to tell her." Helen planned on moving abroad to get away
from the small town where they lived, but her daughter discovered
papers hidden under her mattress when she was out one day.
Helen was forced to tell the truth after her daughter confronted her about it.
"I wanted her to have her innocence, which was taken away from me," she explained.
Now Helen's daughter is travelling the world and Helen says "they're getting there" with their relationship.
"There was a period where she hated me. She never felt [anything] or matured after she found out. She became really hard."
Helen
says it will be a long journey for both of them, but hopes that telling
her story will help raise awareness of similar abuse and encourage
people that they shouldn't suffer in silence.

Wife
swapping among Namibia's nomadic tribes has been practised for
generations but a legislator's call to enshrine it in law has stirred
debate about women's rights and tradition in modern society.
The practice is more of a gentlemen's agreement where friends can have sex with each others' wives with no strings attached.
The
wives have little say in the matter, according to those who denounce
the custom as both abusive and risky in a country with one of the
world's highest HIV/Aids rates.
But the Ovahimba and
Ovazemba tribes, based mainly in the country's arid north, contend their
age-old custom strengthens friendships and prevents promiscuity.
"It's
a culture that gives us unity and friendship," said Kazeongere Tjeundo,
a lawmaker and deputy president of the opposition Democratic Turnhalle
Alliance of Namibia.
"It's up to you to choose [among]
your mates who you like the most … to allow him to sleep with your
wife," said Tjeundo, a member of the Ovahimba ethnic group.

Kericho Governor, Professor Paul Chepkwony is at the centre of a paternity drama involving a three-year-old boy he allegedly sired with a woman he met while teaching at University of Eldoret (formerly Moi University, Chepkoilel Campus). Agnes Chebet, a secretary at the neighbouring Bomet County, has accused Chepkwony of abandoning a child he fathered with her.She claims the governor tricked her into bed by promising marriage and a good life, but later changed his mind and dumped her. They allegedly cohabited for five years, before the county chief reportedly disowned the child and walked out on her.
But the governor has dismissed Chebet as a “prostitute,” following a suit Chebet filed seeking orders to compel Chepkwony to pay for her upkeep and that of their alleged child. It is the second suit Chebet has filed before the Children’s Court, after Chepkwony convinced her to withdraw the initial one. She wants the court to compel him to pay Sh158,000 monthly for the child’s upkeep. Career on the line In case No.45 of 2014 filed before Kericho Law Courts, Chebet, through her lawyer, Wycliffe Ngeno Lessan, claims she cohabited with Chepkwony from 2007 to 2011, and as a result of that relationship, conceived the child now aged three and a half years.

Commercial sex workers in the country under the aegis of the National
Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP, have thrown their weight
behind the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari.
NANP said it would declare a-three day free
sex across the country if president Jonathan eventually loses the seat
to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of APC.
Recall that the group had in 2013 declared one-week free sex after the Super Eagles defeated Burkina Faso to lift the AFCON trophy after almost 20 years.
A
statement signed by the group's General Secretary, Jessica Elvis noted
that NANP was not happy with Jonathan's government over the way
commercial sex workers were being treated in the country since he
assumed office as the first citizen.
It described Jonathan's
government as the worst in the history of Nigeria, saying that it
recorded the lowest income during his tenure.
The statement also quoted Elvis as saying that several approaches to the presidency to legalize prostitution were turned down.

protests in Lagos to seek a better place for prostitutes in Nigeria.
Abraham
who heads the Nigerian chapter of African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA)
and the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI), led the protests with
demonstrators wearing T-shirts screaming "Sex work is work, we need our
rights".
"We are tired of dying in silence; we want to be able to
practice our profession with pride like every other person. We want an
end to name-calling and stigmatisation. We are sex workers and not asawo
[a derogatory Yoruba name for prostitutes]", She told Aljazeera.
"Sex
work is normal work and there are sex workers everywhere under one form
of disguise or the other. The government should stop criminalising our
work", she further said.
Backing Abraham's point, Elvis said for
failing to legalize prostitution, the group would not support Jonathan
for a second term.
"We sent a proposal to the government in March 2, 2012,
almost a year after Jonathan was fully elected as president of Nigeria
on the need to legalize prostitution. That was when our late president,
Micah Ejoyo was alive, but the presidency rather declared war on us by
arresting some members on the street of Abuja.
"Most of
them are students who are using the job to pursue their education. We
all cannot work in Aso Rock, NNPC or Shell. We don't rob people. We are
using our endowment to fend for ourselves. We deserve to be respected.
Enough of this hypocrisy because even Jonathan and his team are not
saints."
Speaking further,
the statement as obtained by DAILY POST on Friday enjoined all members
of the association to come out en mass come February 14 to vote out Jonathan from Aso Rock.
"We
are calling on all our members and every Nigerian in particular to join
the march. No to Jonathan! Because under Jonathan's government, we lost
over 400
members in the north to the Boko Haram insurgency and we are not ready
to lose anybody again. We would be declaring a three-day free sex if God
eventually sends Jonathan out of Aso Rock. You can count on us. We did

It has long been a strong coffee or even a Bloody
Mary that a worn-out reveller has turned to the
morning after the night before.
Now, however, experts say that Sprite may be
best thing to lay your hands on.
Chinese scientists examined 57 beverages -
ranging from herbal teas to fizzy pop - before
concluding that the lemon and lime drink
performed the best.
They first decided to look at what causes a
hangover and discovered that rather than the
alcohol itself, it could be the process of the body
breaking down the alcohol that causes
symptoms such as nausea and headache.
When we drink, our livers release an enzyme
called alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), which
breaks down the ethanol in alcohol into a
chemical called acetaldehyde (so less the alcohol
enters the bloodstream).
This is then broken down into another chemical
called acetate by an enzyme called aldehyde
dehydrogenase (ALDH).
While acetate is usually considered harmless -
and has been linked with some of the health
benefits of alcohol - being exposed to the more
potent acetaldehyde is what causes hangover
symptoms, the researchers found.
With this in mind, the researchers at Sun Yat-Sen
University, in Guangzhou, tested a range of
drinks, from teas, hot herbal drinks and various
fizzy drinks - and examined how they affected
ADH and ALDH.
They discovered that a herbal drink made with
hemp seeds actually increased the length of the
ADH process and inhibited the ALDH process, so
a hangover would last for longer.
But Sprite was among the drinks that sped up
the ALDH process, causing the alcohol to be
broken down more quickly, thereby reducing
hangover duration.
'These results are a reminder that herbal and
other supplements can have pharmacological
activities that both harm and benefit our health,'
Edzard Ernst, Emeritus Prodessor of
complementary medicine at the University of
Exeter, told Chemistry World.
Young people - and regular drinkers - produce
more of the alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme, so
they don't feel the effects of alcohol as much as
older people, said consultant hepatologist Dr
Rajiv Jalan of University College Hospital London.
The only good news is that, with age, hangover
headaches become less of a problem.
The headaches are the result of alcohol
damaging the brain, causing it to swell
temporarily and crash against the skull.
But as we age our brains shrink, so there is more
room for it to swell before it hits the bone.

Kekemer village in
Teso North district in Busia County is mourning
the death of a 36 year old farmer who was
slashed to death for having s*x with a married
woman.
Stephen Etyang had visited the woman to romp
after coming from a drinking spree when he was
attacked by the husband - a bodaboda operator.
According to sources, the woman was a second
wife and had a relationship with the farmer. The
husband suspected the two and laid a trap for
them. On Sunday evening, the man told the wife
that he would spend the night at the first wife's
house.
The wife quickly informed the lover and asked
him to pass by since she would be alone
unaware that the husband had laid a trap for
them. At night the husband returned and
knocked at their door. The woman woke up to
open the door when her husband stormed and
caught the farmer n3k3d in bed.
He slashed him to death using a hoe he had. He
escaped in the night and has not yet returned to
the village.
The area chief while confirming the incident
urged men and women to respect the marriage
institution to avoid similar incidents.
The body was taken to Busia County Referral
Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

There was drama in Kisii town last night
when a 47 year old man slashed his wife to
death after she asked him to change their s*x
style in a move to bring more flame into their
love life.
According to residents at the town, they heard
wails and screams coming from a neighbor's
house who worked as a salonist. They called
police officers because the husband, Geoffrey
Bosire, had locked the house from inside.
Police arrived after 20 minutes and broke the
steel door only to find the woman profusely
bleeding on their bed and Bosire holding a
machete he had used on his hand. He willingly
surrendered to the officers.
Bosire said that he suspected his wife was
cheating on him for trying to initiate animal
styles. According to him they have always used
one style since they got married and there was
no way his wife would have learnt about another
style unless she was cheating on him.

Grief has engulfed Ragana estate in the
outskirts of Migori Town following the death of a
trader who killed his four-year-old girl before
hanging himself upon realising that he was HIV
positive.
The man strangled the little girl to death before
hanging himself inside their house in the estate.
Police reports indicate that the man was working
in Mwanza Town in Tanzania and had buried his
wife last month after she died from HIV. He
tested positive too with the disease.
Police suspect that he thought nobody would
take care of his daughter if he succumbed to the
disease and opted to kill her.
Neighbours who rushed to the house found the
girl's body lying cold on the bed while the body
of the man was hanging on a manila rope in the
sitting room.
The bodies were moved to a local hospital
mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

Former Bungoma
Senator, Moses Wetangula, has said he sincerely
hates members of the Kikuyu community for
stealing CORD's victory on March 4th and his
victory on, Monday.
Speaking to journalists immediately after his
election was nullified by Bungoma High Court
Judge, Francis Gikonyo, on Monday; Wetangula
put blame on members from the Kikuyu
community who have nullified his election as the
Bungoma senator.
He said judge Gikonyo (who is from the Kikuyu
community) was bribed by President Uhuru
Kenyatta (another Kikuyu) to nullify his election
as Bungoma County lawmaker
Wetangula, who is also the Ford Kenya party
leader, was slapped with Sh4 million costs of the
suit.
Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, condemned
the court's judgment, regretting it had cost the
only elected member of the CORD Summit his
seat.
"The open injustice exhibited by the High Court
was expected. Hakimu amefanya tu mambo
aliyoamrishwa. (The Judge only acted on orders
to nullify his election). After the Supreme Court
threw away our petition after the March 4 polls,
the only remaining elected member of the CORD
Summit was Wetangula, they were aiming at
him and now they have hit the target," furious
Raila said.
In his ruling, Justice Gikonyo said there was a
wide range of malpractices including double
registration, vote tallying manipulation, and
double voting during the election of Wetangula
on March 4th
