Raila Odinga sends a message to CORD followers from South Africa on Uhuru/ Ruto’s swearing in

  • Outgoing Prime Minister Raila Odinga has urged his supporters to welcome President of Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto as they are officially sworn into office on Tuesday.
    In a statement, he sent to pressrooms on Monday, Raila who is on vacation in South Africa asked his supporters to remain peaceful and welcome Kenya’s fourth President in style.
    Raila said Kenyans should give Mr Kenyatta and William Ruto the opportunity to implement their plans for Kenya.
    Mr Odinga’s statement was aimed at cooling tension on a day police said they had discovered plans to disrupt the ceremony at Kasarani Sports Centre and arrested 4 ODM leaders who were part of the scheme.
    CORD’s top leaders led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula are currently on a vacation in South Africa and it not clear whether they will attend Uhuru and Ruto’s inauguration.
    A source who accompanied the CORD leaders said they were not keen on attending the inauguration ceremony.
