The Catholic Church has distanced itself from the advertisement published in the Daily Nation Newspaper purporting that the Catholic Church promotes the use of condoms.
Speaking at St. Cyprian Church in Nyeri, the Head of Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri Bishop Peter Kairo reaffirmed the Church’s stand against the use of condom saying the church advocates for chastity and fidelity in marriage as sure ways to combating the spread of STDs.
The advert in question was run by Catholics for Choice Movement advocating for use of condoms.
It states “Good Catholics believe in sex which is sacred and that they believe in using condoms”.
The Archbishop called on the Catholic faithful not to be swayed by such misleading adverts and urged them to be in the forefront in promoting chastity; one man one wife and faithfulness in marriage.
This comes after efforts have been made to educate the public about the devastating effects of the Catholic Church’s stand on the use condoms and the advert is meant to counter such effects.
