Nairobi, Kenya: Police on Friday morning shot dead three suspected thugs in a botched robbery in Roasters area, off Thika Road in Nairobi and recovered two pistols from them.
Police say the men were planning to commit robbery in the area when the shooting happened at about 10 am after a dramatic chase.
The officers on the ground say they recovered two pistols and 8 bullets from the slain men who were killed near Marurui Shopping Centre.
Head of Flying squad Nyale Munga says police had been tipped of a planned robbery in the area when they confronted the middle aged gunmen.
"We will test the guns to establish if they have been used elsewhere because we think the men are part of a larger gang that has been terrorising residents," said Munga.
