outskirts of Migori Town following the death of a
trader who killed his four-year-old girl before
hanging himself upon realising that he was HIV
positive.
The man strangled the little girl to death before
hanging himself inside their house in the estate.
Police reports indicate that the man was working
in Mwanza Town in Tanzania and had buried his
wife last month after she died from HIV. He
tested positive too with the disease.
Police suspect that he thought nobody would
take care of his daughter if he succumbed to the
disease and opted to kill her.
Neighbours who rushed to the house found the
girl's body lying cold on the bed while the body
of the man was hanging on a manila rope in the
sitting room.
The bodies were moved to a local hospital
mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
